Rick Covault, President

Rick has been involved in sales and marketing within the Detroit community for nearly 25 years. His expertise has grown from sales and production within the graphic arts industry, to managing millions of dollars in business and staffs of marketing professionals.

Rick’s high-energy style and positive outlook on business has provided him the opportunity to manage various companies at an executive level. In the 1990’s Rick held the position of President and partner in a mid-sized company that specialized in marketing communications services for such clients as GM-Cadillac, GM-Onstar, GM-Corporation, GM-Buick, GMSPO, GM-International, Lear Corporation, Delphi Corporation and Ford Motor Company.

In the past 10 years, Rick’s passion for new technology and alternative media forms also lead him to other leadership positions such as President/CEO of a large commercial printing company as well as Chief Operating Officer of a digital imaging company.

Since 2003, Rick has been President and owner of Ballyhoo Communications, a company that provides full service marketing and advertising services in a business to business and business to consumer environment.

A native of Michigan, Rick graduated from Ferris State University with Associates in Applied Science Degree and B.A. studies in Skilled Trade Education. While at Ferris, Rick lettered in varsity football. Rick has sat on the Board of Directors for the Advertising Production Club of Detroit as well as a member of the Direct Marketing Association of Detroit, Adcraft Club and Printing Industries of Michigan. Rick currently is on the Alumni Advisory Board for the School of Advertising & Marketing at Ferris State University. He volunteers his time with the PKD Foundation – Detroit Chapter and as a youth hockey and baseball coach.


John Kloosterman, Senior Vice President, Creative Director

John is an award winning creative director with 20 years of experience influencing the world's best brands. His passion for all things creative and drive to create great experiences for the client have led to some great campaigns, great relationships and most of all, advertising that really works.

John specializes in creating strategic, engaging experiences that live across multiple media, including broadcast, print, interactive and Point-of-Sale. His supportive, easy going style and sense of humor inspires a fun, productive atmosphere (even when the heat is on), while his insight, focus and vision consistently proves out killer creative solutions for even the most challenging projects.

John joined Ballyhoo communications in 2006 after stints at some of the largest agencies in the world. The team he leads has been handpicked from many different disciplines and backgrounds but they all share the passion, creativity and storytelling ability that Ballyhoo brings to every project.
